4th EU-China High Level Round Table on Social Security

"MANAGING SOCIAL SECURITY IN PERIODS OF ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY"

Thursday 15^th & Friday 16th October 2009, Sheraton Hotel, Stockholm

The 4^th EU China High Level Round Table took place in Stockholm on the 15th and 16^th October, 2009. It was attended by over 100 participants from China and 13 EU member states. The theme of this year's Round Table "Managing Social Security in Periods of Economic Uncertainty" provided participants to hear presentations from academics and senior social security officials from both EU member states and China. The presentations were followed by debates and discussion on key issues facing both EU and China.

This high level event heard keynote speeches from Commissioner Spidla of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities at the European Commission, Vice Minister Hu from the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security, PRC. Further policy dialogue on Social Protection was supplied by the Minister of Social Services, Sweden M/x Christina Husmark Persson; State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Franz Thonnes.
